Bio

Syreeta Spears is a board-certified, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with full prescriptive authority. She focuses on using a collaborative, comprehensive methodology when treating patients and families. Syreeta specializes in the treatment of children, adolescents, and young adults. Syreeta believes that best practice includes working together with patients and all members of their healthcare team to create valuable supports and treatment plans for issues surrounding suicidal thoughts, depression, anxiety, emotional disturbances, trauma, bipolar disorder, behavioral issues, sleep problems, troubled thought patterns, difficult life transitions, and attention issues.

Because Syreeta specializes in children, adolescents, and young adults, she believes in being a conservative prescriber, and only prescribing the amount of medication necessary to treat the presenting issue safely and effectively. She focuses on seeing each person as an individual and providing them with individualized, and personalized care.

Before transitioning to private practice, Syreeta worked at Children’s Hospital Colorado for 11 years, working in the Psychiatric Inpatient Unit, Psychiatric Day Treatment Program, Psychiatric Outpatient Program, General Medical Floors, and the Psychiatric Emergency Department.

Syreeta believes that though medication is helpful, the best treatment is actually the combined use of medication, therapy, and lifestyle changes to improve overall well-being. She offers a holistic approach to mental health that looks at how physical activity, nutrition, support systems, and sleep affects our individual mental health. Syreeta also offers genetic testing to help provide additional insight into which medications may be helpful in treating you or your child.
